Who is Poseidon?

Poseidon is the son of Cronus and Rhea, the brother of Zeus, second only to Zeus, and one of the twelve gods in Greek mythology. Poseidon is confused with Neptune in Roman mythology. Astronomers named it Neptune after its Roman name. Zeus was named Jupiter after the Roman name.

He has the skill to breathe the wind and can set off or calm the violent sea. Poseidon often held a trident, which became his symbol. When he is angry, monsters will appear on the bottom of the sea. He can wave a trident to cause tsunamis and earthquakes, but the sacred beast dolphin that symbolizes him shows the tranquility of the sea and Poseidon’s kind divinity.
