Ancient White Marble Greek Hercules And Cerberus Statue for Outdoor Garden

1.About Hercules:

Thebes, the home of Hercules, paid an annual tribute to Erginus, the Minya king. This made Hercules angry, so when he met some Minyas on the road, he cut off their ears, nose, and hands. As you might guess, this made King Elginus very angry, and he led his entire army to charge Thebes.Unafraid, Hercules raised his own army. Our hero led the charge, wiped out the Minyan, and personally killed King Erjinus.King Creon of Thebes was so grateful to Hercules that he gave hercules his daughter Megara as his bride.Everything was happy for a while. Hercules and Megara had a bunch of kids.Eventually hercules’ Nemesis Hera, queen of the gods, stepped in and ruined his life. (Hera hated Hercules because he was the illegitimate son of her husband Zeus.)

The Queen of the gods became very annoying, causing Hercules to go mad and kill all his children.Needless to say, Hercules feels a little guilty about killing his children and everyone else. Our hero goes to the Delphi oracle to find out how to undo the damage he’s done. The oracle told him that he must make himself the servant of Eurystheus, king of Argos.Eurystheus told Hercules that he must perform twelve labors for him.”Well,” said Hercules, “what do you want me to do?”

2.The Twelfth Labor: Cerberus

On his twelfth and final job, Eurystheus thought of the worst thing he could imagine: Hercules must bring back three hell-dogs, the gates of hell guarding the underworld.Hercules dived underground and suddenly appeared on hades, the god of death. In the palace, Hercules meets his Greek hero Theseus and another fellow named Piritus, their butts glued to the bench. Legend has it that Theseus foolishly agreed to help his friend Piritius in his attempt to woo Persephone, the wife of Hades. As punishment, Hades magically glued them to the bench.Hercules pulled Theseus off the bench with all his strength, leaving only a thin layer of buttocks on the bench.

However, when Hercules tries to pull Piritus up, the underworld begins to shiver — and Hades is not happy.Hercules and Theseus abandoned Piritus and moved on.Hercules approached Hades and asked to borrow Cerberus so the hero could finish his final work.As long as Hercules can throw the three-headed dog down without using any weapons, Hades is cool. “Don’t worry,” said Hercules. Our hero finds Cerberus and squeezes the animal with his muscular arms. Cerberus bites, scratches and fights fiercely, but Hercules refuses to let go.

Eventually, Cerberus realizes he’s being beaten and calms down.Hercules brought Cerberus back to Eurystheus and returned the Hellhound to Hades. Thus the twelve labors of Hercules were completed. He finally atoned for killing his child. When he returned to Thebes, he left his wife Megara with his friend Iolaus (HMM) and went on his merry way.It was said that he had achieved immortality by completing all the absurdly arduous tasks assigned to him by Eurystheus.
