This theme is a complex cosmic allegory, best described in the sculptor’s own words: “Extending out of the world’s plan is Cupid, the god of generations, the symbolic genius who maintains and monitors the licentious wealth without virtue. Snoring in sleep… dreaming of pastime in happiness. Let him alone, the ambitious and upright genius at work fell asleep in the restless sleep of misfortune and glory…His head stretched beyond the edge of the world.
