Italy style famous art design marble Disillusion sculpture

When many people saw it for the first time, they couldn’t believe that the net on the figure was carved out of marble. It took the artist 7 years to create this work. It is carved from a single piece of marble, and each rope needs to be meticulously carved and polished. This work is located in the San Severo Chapel in the historic center of Naples, Italy.

Disillusion sculpture created by Francesco Queirolo, this work is fascinating with a sculptural chisel to challenge the fishing net production technique.

This group of sculptures depicts a man who has just been freed from his sins. This can be demonstrated by the fishing nets made by the sculptor with all his skills. The light gleaming on the forehead of the winged elf represents the wisdom of mankind. The elf is helping the man free from the complicated net. The elf’s finger is pointing to the sphere at his feet,  An open bible is placed next to the sphere, with the solemn religious text inscribed on it. The bas-relief on the base of the sculpture depicts the scene of Jesus restoring the blind to light. These elements further enhance the religious meaning of the sculpture itself.

The work commissioned by Prince Raymond embodies the true beauty of human beings: the life of Prince Anthony, the father of the Prince, is regarded as the most immortal metaphor for the expression of “human fragility”. Because if you have not experienced it, mankind will never know what a great virtue is.
