The Winged Victory of Samothrace, also known as Nike of Samothrace, is a Hellenistic marble sculpture of Nike (the Greek goddess of victory), created approximately in the 2nd century BC. It has been on display at the Louvre since 1884 and is one of the most famous sculptures in the world. H. W. Janson described it as “the greatest masterpiece of Hellenistic sculpture.”
The sculpture is one of the few major Greek and ancient Greek statues preserved in original rather than Roman replicas. Only the right wing of Winged Victory is not original but added by mirroring the left-wing.
